2013 Siren Nation Festival Call For Artists


Then and Now: A Group show of women artists from the Pacific Northwest

Siren Nation invites women artists of the Pacific Northwest to enter work to be shown in our November exhibition entitled “Then and Now”. The theme of this exhibition is open to broad interpretation and intended to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women in the arts and our world throughout time.

Forty selected works will be featured at the Albina Press, 5012 SE Hawthorne Blvd during the month of November 2013.

Show opens Thursday, November 7th at the Albina Press on SE Hawthorne Blvd in Portland, Oregon. This show is part of The Siren Nation Women’s Music and Arts Festival, which also features musical performances, and a film festival.

The call is open to all photographic and 2D artistic media and must be wired for hanging. Please avoid using heavy substrates that are difficult to hang on coffee shop walls. The work will be displayed in a community art situation, so please exercise discretion in the areas of sexuality and violence.

Selections will be juried by committee. All artists receive 80% of the value of all art sold. The venue takes 20% commission.

All interested artists should email art@sirennation.org and include a link to their website and/or 3-5 jpg images of their current work. Please put Then And Now as the subject heading in the email.

All submissions must be received by October 1st, 2013 and will be juried by committee. Selected artists will be notified by October 10th, 2013. Depending on space and interest in the show, we may be able to accept more than one piece from each artist. That is more likely if your work is smaller in size and/or are harmonious.
