Marissa Louise is an Oregon-based fine artist and colorist who has worked with Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, and many other publishers. Her credits include titles such as Milk Wars, Grumble, Semiautomagic, Harley Quinn: The Animated Series, and the upcoming Black Manta. She’s spoken on panels at San Diego Comic-Con, Rose City Comic Con, and other conventions.

Trained in traditional media at Pratt Institute in New York, Marissa transitioned to coloring in 2012. She has organized multiple communities of colorists, the #ColoristJam online event, and safe entry-level networking events for comics creators. She also teaches youths in Portland how to make video games.

FREE DJ WORKSHOP next Sunday 7/11--registration link in bio! Siren Nation Speaks is excited to present "Building Your DJ Toolbox" with @wegotnextpdx. This is a free skill-sharing workshop and educational resource that empowers DJs and artists who are underrepresented in the mainstream. We Got Next programming is open to all, but the priority is for Women of Color and anyone with a lived experience of misogyny, regardless of their gender identity. Closed captioning will be provided on Zoom for accessibility.⠀

The workshop will focus on building your DJ toolkit as you begin your journey as a music curator, and feature a networking session with fellow DJs. This will be an inclusive space that is safe for cis, trans, nonbinary, and gender diverse folks of all racial identities to learn, build community, and grow as artists. No special equipment is needed. Feel free to bring your questions and tips to share!

Introducing the host of our March #SirenNationSpeaks event: Samantha Montanaro (@prismhousepdx)! 💫

Samantha Montanaro is an entrepreneur, activist, musician, mother and thought leader in the global cannabis industry. Samantha is the co-founder and CEO of @tokeativity, a women’s empowerment and event network featuring a robust tech platform that brings communities around the world together on feminism, normalization of plant medicine and the self healing revolution. In 2015, she opened one of the first cannabis consumption event spaces - Prism House - after legalization in Oregon and has been a pioneer in advocating for the creation of social consumption regulations.

Samantha is also a talented musician and front for Portland based psychedelic folk pop band, Mama Sam and the Jam (@mamasamandthejam). Like Fleetwood Mac meets Mazzy Star, Mama Sam's catchy melodies and powerful harmonies over trippy guitar and groovy beats leaves listeners feeling high on vibes. The Jam features Carmen Paradise on bass, Nick Foltz on drums, Rachael Curtin singin' those harmonies and Mike Wiser on lead guitar. Mama Sam is a soulful songwriter who sings and plays guitar.

Samantha has been a panel moderator at Siren Nation events for four years, engaging in vibrant discussions with women in the #cannabiz. Along with hosting our “Creating with Cannabis” virtual workshop on March 14 (registration link in bio!) she will also be moderating a “State of the Arts” digital discussion presented by Siren Nation this coming May! 🎸🍁✨
